SYNERGIES OF SEXUALITY: SEEING THE WHOLE PERSON 

Conference Streams: 

Intersections of Sexuality: How people express and experience sexuality and encounter the world, can be examined by unraveling the intersections of sexual identity including disability, age, gender, ethnicity, culture, socioeconomic status, etc. Identifying how identities overlap can reveal where stigma and discrimination can be challenged and sexual rights for everyone promoted. 

Disability and Sexuality: People in the disability community suggest that their disability isn’t what hinders or challenges them, but rather systems and society that aren’t accessible or accepting of different needs to function fully within society. Together, we will deconstruct myths about people with any kind of disability and view all sexuality as unique and an integral part of who we are.

Mental Health and Sexuality: Mental and sexual health are intimately intertwined. Mental health is an important and key part of sexual health both informing one another. Taking an integrated approach and seeing these as mutually effecting can be helpful, especially when considering all people, including those with marginalized sexual identities and mental illness. Understanding our history helps us to understand and address current concerns. 

Sexual and Gender Diversity (LGBTQ2S+): Promoting health sexuality of people must be inclusive of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expression (SOGIE). Develop a deeper understanding of current issues, inclusive practices, create calls to action and network with people to promote health and equity for everyone. 

Anticipated Conference Participants (projected at 150+) including: Sexual health professionals, outreach workers, educators, activists, nurses, social works, child and youth care workers, clergy, correctional staff, physicians, other health care professionals/support staff, university faculty and students.

Registration Refund: A full refund, less 12% administration fee, will be issued if notice of cancellation is received after April 17, 2021. No refunds if cancellation is received after that date.
